8 million years later

I post to the Blog again....

Well, Gen and i are in the process of Renting out our existing house, and purchasing another in the local town. This is a brave experiment, and it may turn out good.

we were never in "LOVE" with the house we live in currently, it was more of a "we need to buy a house" thing back in 2003, and the market turned around and bit us in the Arse. I like our house, in general, but i don't like the layout, nor the neighborhood. We are about 8 miles away from the town, and we have come to the conclusion that we want to be in the middle of things, so that we can get to restaurants, ride our bikes to work, etc..

Then comes the alter battle, the one where we don't want to make a mistake in the Home we purchase, it's become such a point of contention that it could cause us to miss out, do nothing, or go insane.

The one we are putting an offer on now, is really cool. 1930's bungalow, corner lot, nice yard, little garage. Just super charming. The other we have, or "Had" interest in, is a 1950's home, a bit further away from the center of things, it's slightly bigger, but feels DARK, and a little odd. We have struggled so badly with the idea that we need more space, as compared to the charm, and fun of the older house, it's just brutal.

I think something that always brings me back to the 30's place is the fact that the current owner is a local Artist, headed back to Boston this summer. Gen is a budding artist, of many different Genre, so i kinda felt like it was "in the stars". Also, this person creates pottery, which i was heavily into about 10-15 years ago, and i still love it, doing it or not. Maybe I'll remind her of the Artistic link in this place, to make her feel better tonight.. : )

I intend to post much more often now, and stop being a loser!

Where does one start?

Well, it's been a while since i've posted, and much has transpired. Miss Gen and i are now about 85% out of debt (unsecured debt), which is incredible! I didn't think it would be in the next 10 years, but we are going to make it!

For commuting purposes, i acquired a super-fabulous 1992 Ford Festiva. It's turned out to be far more of a Basket case/project. I'm honestly not sure if i'll keep it, or just sell it. I find the "festiva" community online fascinating, but my current experiences are not all that "funtiva" ha, ha..

Finally, we just finished watching the Super Bowl, it's was less entertaining than i thought, and the Giants Won, so it was even less for me (more for Gen though).

Now, i need to not be sick anymore, i'm stuck with some sort of Throat/tonsil thing going on, where some times during the day i feel ok, and sometimes i don't. UG.

New Year, New Madness?

Well, i was just informed this evening that my Mother in-law has reached a new low (or high?). Apparently she and her better half had spent the last few days in Laughlin Nevada, Gambling, etc..

I guess she pulled in a pretty good take, something like she went there with $300, and came back with $1300. That's pretty serious when you consider that I NEVER win anything, so walking away with 1k is a pretty nice trip.

She HAD almost 2k i guess, but she was working at a table or machine(i have not had the details), but she made around $600, and went to cash it at the electronic changer, instead of the actual "cage". She proceeded to feed her stuff in, and it stopped working (in her words), so she leaves to get someone to help her. She comes back, demanding that they make it "work". Well i guess she just wasn't patient enough, because the person who was waiting behind her collected the $500 she could not wait for. The machine was re-queing itself i suppose, and she freaked.

What a shitty way to lose $500! I can think of many other ways that are much more physically damaging!

Anyway, it's just a hoot.

New Year.

Well, it's been a while since i've self-posted, it's the NEW YEAR. Alot of things have happend. 1/3 of my unsecured debt is gone, and most likely in the next 1-2 months, the rest will be gone (thanks mom), and i have a feeling it will make a huge difference.

For Christmas, i got a Electric Toothbrush that i really needed, a wikid awesome Garmin GPS that i use way too much, and a bunch of other stuff, ipod accesories, gift cards, and other cool stuff. Per usual, i'm actually happy that the holidays are over, it will be nice to get back to "normal".

This week i "switched" GEN over to a Mac Mini, and it's going pretty well. I think we are both pretty damn tired of dealing with Microsoft, and the garbage of PC's. Unfortunately it's my job, so i still have to deal with them outside of the house. I think i'll be switching also to a Mini, it's just more elegant, and some of the apps (iphoto), make it all worth it.

On Christmas Day we went and saw I Am Legend. I had read the book, and i have to say that i enjoyed the movie more. It was just as good as i thought it would be, very moving, disturbing, makes you think a bit.

BACK TO WORK! ug.

Things that ARE not for me to poop on

Who knew that a new bed would be so good. Gen and i got a new King size Doctor's choice bed all setup last night, and my GOD, my back does not ache at all, i ache in other places, but that's from moving all the stuff around to get that right!

I guess it's something you take for Granted, the Quality of your Mattress. This one still was not all that expensive for what we got, and upgrading to this quality, and KING size, it's like being in a sweet Vegas Hotel all the time, without the SMOKE, just dog ass : )

Happy Holidays, don't forget to poop next to your Holiday tree!

Moose is for Power Amazing!

Ozzy Osbourne.

We went to the Tuesday night Concert, with Rob Zombie, and Ozzy.

This was just Terrible, Loud, Crappy music, and old dirty men.

Fact #1: Ozzy can no longer sing.
Fact #2: White trash is as white trash does.
Fact #3: Leaving early is priceless.

Thank god i didn't buy a t-shirt or food, and we brought our earplugs!

Give me BNL any day!

FMTPO

Yes, for me to poop on. That's what this week was. It's Dec 1 now, it's cold, and i need to figure out a way to get out on the mountains. It's too damn Expensive! It's like $50 to run for a day, and i can't roll that long, how about $25?

I wonder if my snowboard is still worth a crap?

Happy saturday.

Pine-Sol

Today, our worrysome HR manager unleashed the smell of pine-sol to cover the terrible smell of Cigarrette smoke in the outer hallway. I have to admit, it smells very clean, but i question how she did it, and where the cleaning product is located. Below is a pic of her i took while in the hallway:

Mmmm, pine smelly goodness.... I want to drink it!

Monday, a case of THE.

So I've got this RETARD who's our HR manager here at work. She continually bothers me with things that just don't matter. My employee Smokes, and he does so outside of the back door of our office (this bothers her). Mind you, there's no actual RULES pertaining smoking here at our office, the only main one being you can't smoke indoors (the Law). She continues to let me know it's not ok for him to be anywhere near the door, and that he should go walk around in the parking lot, or somewhere else.

-HR manager for local colorado bank, shocked by smokers!

At first, i thought it was a Legal issue, but it's become more apparent to me that it's HER, she just doesn't like smokers. I don't like them either all that much, but my Mom smokes, and some of my best friends do, so i tolerate it, and dammit, i don't care if someone wants to smoke out the back door. I have even considered sabatojing her office to smell more like that! She's such an infant.

I wish i could write out my anger in a more eloquent way, but I'm retarded myself!

If you got em, smoke em!

A durka durka

Sunday Sunday. I often don't look forward to sunday's, and today is no exception. I'm just getting over a cold, and the wife has thrown out her back (we sound old eh?), but we are not. Next week is a short one, and i'm glad. I think it's time for some winter bike riding, and ramp up to a little snowboarding. If my contact impared younger brother comes back from the navy for XMAS, i think i can convince him to roll with me. As far as biking goes, i'm dissapointed in myself, and i'm hoping to actually get on some trails next season. I have no excuses now, i have the bike i have always wanted (hardtail, but the brand i desired), so i've got to do it.

Tomorrow i'm headed to beautiful Limon Colorado, what a grand visit that will be! It kills one day in the week, ho well...

Turdler Burglar

Das es ein mein bob knobble!

Tuesday. So to my lone reader, do you remember a few weeks ago when i was struggling with EMC to get my backup to the exchange server going?

Well i demanded that they give me a large refund, or 2 years of additional service tacked onto it, he finally replied to me today, saying that 2 years is really steep, and it was unlikely that he could do that, see that there's no proof that their software failed (i have proof). So now he plays his game, i gave him until Thursday to figure it out, or i will ship the equipment back, and uninstall the software post haste!

I was sick all weekend, including VETS day, and i'm barely recovering now, i'm hoping that i will be at least 80% functional tomorrow, and possibly post some kind of photograph up here, of some sort..

Veterans Day

Monday, Monday. So i have Veterans day off, and I'm sick. and I'm a vet. So what.

Yesterday my Hard drive took a dive. I was strolling about the house, and i touched a live USB drive that was sitting on top of my computer. Electrical discharge, and dead hard drive. It was that easy!

I have shocked electrical equipment here in Colorado many, many times. It seems that due to the dry air, there's a much higher chance of static discharge (unlike my old home in California). Now i seem to be at least 50% more likely to shock stuff (guess i'm electric...). So she took a poo. I spent the better part of yesterday reloading my hard drive back to the state it was in, and now here we are.

It's Veterans day, and i'm a veteran. To be totally honest with you, it means very little to me. I understand the meaning, the point, all of that stuff. I just feel like i don't need a day to remember veterans and junk. I can remember them any day.. I will take the day off however!

I'm feeling about 40% better than when i woke up today, so here's to 3 day weekends when you are sick!

Microsoft Exchange, Unravelled.

Well, at about 3am on Tuesday morning, i solved my backup/restore solution with microsoft exchange.

It actually ended up being an issue with the restore/backup software over writing a log file, you see, it could not write to it, because of corruption, it's supposed to be able to, but it failed, 4 times! the major issue was the speed at which it was moving the recovery, 18+ hours to pull a 118gb file. THAT problem is still not solved, nobody can figure out why the recovery went so slow?

What i have learned from this is 2 fold. 1. I will begin testing backup files every week, without question, it's the only way to go. 2. I'm going to learn and master linux, because after this "Life", I'm out, no more Microsoft, i won't do it, i won't have it.

Word.

Saturday, and the recovery continues

Alright, now it's Saturday, and my "Exchange recovery", has been going for 22 hours, it MAY finish in the next 2-4 hours. MY GOD, a 25 hour or so recovery! I guess it's just good if it works, but that's a long time!

Now is the time on Sprokets when we DANCE!

Nightmares upon Nightmares

Sometimes i wonder why i do this IT stuff for a living. It's driving me insane! Late last night, or early this morning, it appears that there was a large power outage near our location, 2+ hours, which is far to long for the Batter backup to hold up everything. When the battery went down, and the Exchange server took a dump, it corrupted the Mail database, and now i'm going through the possibly 6 hour process of recovering that database properly (No guarantees from Microsoft).

I should have never installed an Exchange server, i should have forced them to use a Linux mail server (sendmail, procmail, whatever), they are far more reliable, and it just makes sense. If i ever make it out of this place, and go somewhere else that's in need of a mail server, i will never look Microsoft's way, i swear.

Now i just want to gun them down.

why am i this way every day lately? It really makes me wish that i had gone into Law enforcement, because at least on days like this, i could be beating up a Vagrant, or a minority, and all would be well.....

Ug.

Good lord

I've soooo had enough today. I planned this damned update for some vendor software, and it ended up causing me to update 2 other pieces of software. The update started at 8am, and is pulling me through 1pm now, with no end in sight. Let me say it again, i hate Microsoft, and i hate VENDORS.

Um yeah... I want WS tickets too

Since this is my daily bitch session, here goes:

Yesterday i got a cell phone call from one of the offices of our company. It was a call from an individual that's been around for a while, is pretty damn computer illiterate, and annoying.

Message goes like this: Um, i need you to call me, because my browser is saying i need "cookies" enabled, I'm trying to order World Series Tickets (Rockies 07), and it's just not working!

2 Problems here. Problem #1, the Rockies tickets did not go on sale until Monday morning at 10am, so he whiffed on that one. Problem #2, why in the hell would i help you get your browser to connect, for personal purposes, on a sunday, from the office? WHY?

There are alot of inconsiderate assholes running around out there. Are you one of them?

F**King Global catalog server

All day, that's how long it took me to figure out the reason my work mail server was broken.

It just kills me, MICROSOFT.

When it came down to it, the server set as the "global catalog server" was down, and if Microsoft exchange cannot access this server, it will not "mount" the mailboxes! YAY.

Such bull.

So it's fixed now, but i want to die, wasted all day!

Why can't i get my S**T straight?

Why can't i seem to stick to my workouts and stuff? God, i can't hang on, it's like I'll have a good, week, then a bad week, i can't string together good weeks! It's killing me, i feel like i need to get it together, and at 32, now is the time. It's driving me insane.

On, a Lighter note, i took the Gangreen Chameleon for a ride to work yesterday (26) miles, pretty damn smooth, but i apparently did not adjust the front derailer very well, so i could not get into top gear, so i had to cruise alot of the way home. Kenda K-rad tires are like a dream, i should have picked thoes up years ago, sheesh!

Coffee time.
